2017 AirToxScreen Emissions Updates (as of March 3, 2022) Emissions for the sources listed below have changed since EPA completed the modeling step of the AirToxScreen analysis. This list includes sources with: • known changes to emissions that occurred after 2017 (and therefore are not reflected in AirToxScreen), • changes that EPA incorporated into the AirToxScreen results via post-modeling corrections, and • recent corrections to 2017 emissions that are not reflected in the AirToxScreen results. 1. Known changes to Emissions that occurred after year 2017 AirToxScreen reflects emissions in 2017. The following facilities have had reductions, corrections, or elimination of emissions since 2017. There are additional shutdowns that have occurred, the ones listed here have been featured on the AirToxScreen Mapping Tool. This should be considered in your use of AirToxScreen to prioritize pollutants or sources for further study. Changes from 2017 NEI - incorporated into the results via post-modeling corrections, after modeling was done • Alaska: Residential Wood Combustion risk adjusted due to updated emissions ratios. The modeling performed was based on the April 2020 version of the 2017 non-point emissions. Significant changes to residential wood combustion emissions in Alaska were applied to the January 2021 version of the 2017 non-point emissions inventory. The post modeling adjustment reflected these changes by adjusting the risk proportional to the ratio of emissions (January 2021 version / April 2020 version) to each pollutant. • North Carolina: Risk and emissions from benzidine is zero at the Bridgestone Tire Facility in Oxford, NC (EIS Facility ID: 8084711) • Pennsylvania: Children's Hospital of PGH/Lawrenceville (EIS Facility ID: 8520911), reduced EtO emissions by a factor of 10 due to corrected control efficiency. • Pennsylvania: Custom Processing Services in Montgomery County PA (EIS Facility ID: 17598811), reduced hexavalent chromium emissions based on updated TRI emissions • Texas: Risk at the NovoSci Sterilization facility in Conroe, TX was set to zero due to the facility reported closing in 2015 3. Corrections to 2017 emissions that are not reflected in the AirToxScreen results These corrections were identified in our final stages of QA/QC of the AirToxScreen information, and therefore EPA could not include them in the AirToxScreen results. Please consider this list in your use of AirToxScreen to prioritize pollutants or sources for further study. • Minnesota: Beltrami and Rice counties, risks and emissions from the nonpoint Residential Wood Combustion (RWC) source are overestimated for 2017. The correct 2017 emissions are 0.41 times the values presented in AirToxScreen for Beltrami County and 0.25 times the values for Rice County. Corrected risks would be lower by the same ratios for these counties. • West Virginia: Union Carbide Corp - South Charleston Facility (EIS Facility ID: 5782311) emitted 709 lbs of ethylene oxide in 2017. ------- • Wisconsin: American Contract Systems, Inc. (EIS Facility ID: 18988311) was inadvertently omitted from modeling. Facility ceased operations in Dec 2021. The facility emitted approximately 70lbs of EtO in 2017. ------- |
