EPA's People, Prosperity, and the Planet's (P3) Program highlights the
use of scientific principles in creating innovative technology-based
projects that achieve the mutual goals of improved quality of life,
economic prosperity and environmental protection. Using a team
approach, P3 empowers college students to transform classroom
learning through hands-on experience to create tangible solutions to
environmental issues in their communities.

New Program Format!

After 20 years of issuing RFAs, P3 has implemented some significant changes! P3 has transitioned
to a single phased program. Individual grant awards are now $75,000 for two years of research.
Winning teams will now participate in the National Student Design Expo in year two of their
projects and showcase their designs.

Eligibility

P3 encourages diverse,
nterdisciplinary teams representing
a broad set of perspectives and
ideas at U.S. colleges and
universities. Teams may be
composed of undergraduates
and/or graduate students. Each
student team must include a
faculty advisor who must be a
professor at the participating
academic institution and will serve
as the Principal Investigator
throughout the P3 competition and
grant award process.

P3 Research Area

Projects must address one of the following areas.
Applications may incorporate climate change and
environmental justice as appropriate.
