ALERT: DANGEROUS PESTICIDES

SNIPER	NOPEST

DO NOT USE

THESE
PRODUCTS.
SAFELY DISPOSE
OF THEM
IMMEDIATELY!

Important:

Do not buy or use illegal pesti-
cides because they can harm
your family. Both pictured pesti-
cides are dangerous and illegal.
They are not EPA registered, and
they contain a chemical called
dichlorvos, also known as DDVP.

Background

Pesticides are poisons we use to
kill pests. Most pesticides sold
or distributed in the U.S. must
be tested to make sure they do
not cause major risks to human
health or the environment, and
they must be registered by EPA.

Properly registered pesticides
will have an EPA Reg. No. and an
EPA Est. No. on the label. Look
for those numbers. Legal pesti-
cides also have instructions on
the iabel that must be followed!
Illegal, unregistered pesticides,
like those pictured, can be very
dangerous to you and your family
and pets.

What to Do in Case
of Exposure

If you have a bottle of one of
these products, wrap it in heavy
plastic and put it into a second,
seaiable bag. If possible, add
some dirt, sand or kitty litter.

Give the bag to your building
superintendent for disposal with
hazardous waste or contact
your local waste management
facility to find out where you can
dispose of it. Don't let children
near it.

If you have a bottle that is leak-
ing, you need to get rid of it as
quickly and as safely as possible.
Do not pour down the drain!

Wear protective clothing, gloves
and a face mask and double-bag
the bottle in heavy plastic. If pos-
sible, add dirt, sand or kitty litter
to soak up leaking material. Give
it to your building superintendent
for hazardous waste disposal or
contact your local waste man-
agement facility to find out where
you can dispose of it.

If anyone has been exposed,
move them to fresh air or open
a window, call 911, remove any
clothing that has come in direct
contact with the pesticide, and
rinse skin with water for 15-
20 minutes. If the person has
stopped breathing, administer
CPR (chest compression alone is
acceptable).
