The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. JOHNSON COUNTY WASTEWATER PROJECT NAME: Wastewater Integrated Management Plan: Foundation Project Delivery Program LOCATION: Olathe, KS INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $243 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT: 292,000 PROJECT TYPE: Wastewater PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Wastewater Integrated Management Plan will consist of two projects to improve existing wastewater treatment facilities: 1) complete rehabilitation and upgrade of the Nelson Complex Wastewater Treatment Facility and 2) complete rehabilitation and expansion of the Mill Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, including biological nutrient removal upgrades. The purpose of these projects is to implement the latest proven treatment approaches and technologies to achieve improved effluent quality and wet weather flow management and to replace aging facilities.
