Truck Replacement Project
for Local-Haul Diesel Fleet

The West Coast Collaborative is pleased to announce
that EPA selected the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency for
$200,000 in EPA funding under the Diesel Emissions
Reduction Act (DERA). The project will be implemented
in partnership with Washington Department of Ecology
and Interstate Distributor Company in Tacoma,
Washington.

What is the LNG Truck Replacement Project ?

The project will replace ten older diesel-powered heavy-duty Class 8
trucks with ten new liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks. The new
trucks will have EPA-certified Cummins Westport ISX12 G engines
fueled by LNG. The ISX12 G meets 2013 EPA and California Air
Resource Board emission standards as well as the 2014 EPA and
U.S. Department of Transportation fuel economy and greenhouse
gasses regulations.

Why is this project important?

This project eliminates diesel particulate from ten high-usage trucks
operating in communities disproportionately affected by diesel
pollution and in an area designated nonattainment for particulate
matter standards.

The LNG Truck Replacement project will reduce lifetime emissions
of NOx by 48.1 tons; PM2.5 by 2.0 tons; HC by 2.0 tons; CO by 12,2
tons; and C02 by 429.6 tons.

How is this project funded?

Through EPA and National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance
Program, the West Coast Collaborative is providing $200,000 in
funds in support of this project. Additionally, the project will be funded
with $1,865,820 from Interstate Distributor Company and a $200,000
grant from the Washington Department of Ecology.
