WIFIA PROGRAM A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Program The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. With this loan, King County will complete several wastewater treatment plant improvement projects, including new reclaimed water storage facility design and construction at Brightwater Treatment Plant in Woodinville and pump station seismic upgrades and tank rehabilitation at South Treatment Plant in Renton. As a result, King County will protect and increase the resiliency of its wastewater treatment system from future seismic events. This is the second loan under a master agreement that will commit $498 million in WIFIA assistance to King County for these wastewater improvement projects. Since 2.018, King County has received four WIFIA loans, which will support over $1 billion in clean water infrastructure investments.
