Interagency Working Group on
Coal & Power Plant Communities
& Economic Revitalization

The Energy Communities IWG is pursuing a whole-of-government approach to create good-paying union
jobs, spur economic revitalization, remediate environmental degradation and support energy workers in
coal, oil and gas, and power plant communities across the country. The working group aims to ensure energy
workers and communities are not left behind during the nation's clean energy transition by directing needed
financial resources from across the government to support economic revitalization.

Rapid Response Teams (RRTs)

The Energy Communities IWG has launched several RRTs
across the country to establish a network of assistance that
is focused and sustainable in a community or region. RRTs
are intended to work with energy communities who have
experienced a recent or approaching fossil fuel facility
closure to address worker and community needs using
existing federal resources.

Navigator

The Energy Communities IWG is here to support
stakeholders with information about resources available
to communities experiencing an energy transition. Our
Navigator is a dedicated team of experts who can answer
questions and direct energy community stakeholders to
the federal agency partners or resources best positioned
to support their needs. Contact an IWG Navigator at

Getting Started Guide

This step-by-step guide is intended to help communities
and workers start the process of planning or responding
to economic and social changes resulting from the energy
transition or any major economic shift. The guide has ten
steps, divided into the categories of Planning, Executing,
and Managing. The guide covers everything from how to
form a team, develop an effective strategy for economic
development, prepare a strong application for federal
funding, manage your grant and more.

Energy Communities One-Stop Shop

EnergyCommunities.gov is a one-stop shop of readily
accessible sources of federal government funding
information and technical assistance available to traditional
energy workers, communities and stakeholders in support
of their economic revitalization efforts. A cornerstone
resource is the centralized clearinghouse featuring billions of
dollars in existing federal funding and technical assistance
opportunities. This comprehensive list offers easy access to
funding across the federal government.

"As the investment numbers for energy communities continue to grow,
we must maintain the momentum, helping communities recover, build
resilience and scale up job creation to position families, businesses and

workers for a clean energy future."

- IWG Executive Director Brian Anderson PhD
