Energy Communities Interagency Working Group Interagency Working Group on Coal & Power Plant Communities & Economic Revitalization The Energy Communities IWG is pursuing a whole-of-government approach to create good-paying union jobs, spur economic revitalization, remediate environmental degradation and support energy workers in coal, oil and gas, and power plant communities across the country. The working group aims to ensure energy workers and communities are not left behind during the nation's clean energy transition by directing needed financial resources from across the government to support economic revitalization. 1 Create Spur OUR MISSION I good-paying economic A f jobs revitalization Remediate Support environmental energy damage workers Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) The Energy Communities IWG has launched several RRTs across the country to establish a network of assistance that is focused and sustainable in a community or region. RRTs are intended to work with energy communities who have experienced a recent or approaching fossil fuel facility closure to address worker and community needs using existing federal resources. Navigator The Energy Communities IWG is here to support stakeholders with information about resources available to communities experiencing an energy transition. Our Navigator is a dedicated team of experts who can answer questions and direct energy community stakeholders to the federal agency partners or resources best positioned to support their needs. Getting Started Guide This step-by-step guide is intended to help communities and workers start the process of planning or responding to economic and social changes resulting from the energy transition or any major economic shift. The guide has ten steps, divided into the categories of Planning, Executing, and Managing. The guide covers everything from how to form a team, develop an effective strategy for economic development, prepare a strong application for federal funding, manage your grant and more. Energy Communities One-Stop Shop EnergyCommunities.gov is a one-stop shop of readily accessible sources of federal government funding information and technical assistance available to traditional energy workers, communities and stakeholders in support of their economic revitalization efforts. A cornerstone resource is the centralized clearinghouse featuring billions of dollars in existing federal funding and technical assistance opportunities. This comprehensive list offers easy access to funding across the federal government.
