&EPA Oasis A/lobile Home Park Drinking Water Update U.S. Environmental Protection Agency San Francisco, March 2 02 3 What Happened? Recent drinking water samples at Oasis Mobile Home Park's (Oasis MHP) water system found arsenic level above the federal Safe Drinking Water Act's (SDWA) maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 10 parts per billion (ppb). The water system is not properly operated and is contributing to elevated levels of arsenic in the water being delivered to residents of the park. On September 14, 2021, EPA issued a new Emergency Administrative Order. The order requires Oasis MHP to provide alternate water to residents at no additional cost while it fixes its water system. What's Arsenic? Arsenic is a naturally-occuring element found across the United States. Consuming water with levels of arsenic that exceed the Safe Drinking Water Act standard, over many years, may cause skin damage, circulatory system problems and/or an increased risk of cancer. (See the websites at the end of this fact sheet for more information on arsenic.) What if my water looks different? For any water emergencies, including changes in color and odor, call Oasis emergency line 24/7 at: (909) 372 - 8438 EPA does not have the ability to enforce taste, color and odor standards. What's Next? Oasis MHP must continue to assess and mitigate its operational issues, continue to monitor its water system and provide regular updates to EPA to make sure it meets all the terms and conditions of the Emergency Administrative Order and Safe Drinking Water Act. Is Oasis MHP Water Safe to Use? EPA recommends residents use bottled water for drinking and cooking. EPA will notify residents when bottled water is no longer needed. Residents should use bottled water for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth. Residents may use tap water for bathing, showering, and washing vegetables but should not ingest the water during these activities. Each resident is entitled to receive one gall on of water daily at no cost. Water can be picked up at the locations below.
