Superfund site Size: 31 acres Existing Site Infrastructure: All major utilities are available on site. Current Site Uses: A public library, an adult education center, Fort Valley Festival Park, a welcome center and office space are located on site. Homes on site were also cleaned up and remain in use. Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks and a fire station are located on the northwest part of the site. The City of Fort Valley plans to reuse remaining areas of the site. Use Restrictions: A 5-to-7-acre area at the site must remain paved. SETTING: • The site and surrounding areas are zoned for industrial, commercial and residential uses. • Homes are located west, south and east of the site. Businesses and light industrial facilities are north, northwest and east of the site. • Surrounding population: 0.5 miles, 953 people 2.5 miles, 10,991 people | 4 miles, 13,270 people. • As: of December 2017, EPA had data for eight on-site businesses. These businesses employed 55 people and generated an estimated $10.4 million in annual sales revenue. REMEDIAL STATUS: • The site includes an area where, beginning in 1910, several companies produced, packaged and stored herbicides and pesticides. Disddm0i EPA does not warrant that the property is suitable for any particular use. Prospective purchasers must contact the property owner for sale potential. • BPA placed the site on the Superfund program's National Priorities List (NPL) in 1990.
