Site Name: Gold Coast Oil Corporation Superfund Site
Size: 2.1 acres

Existing Site Infrastructure: Water, sewer and electricity are available. There are several paved asphalt and
concrete areas on site.

Readiness for Reuse: The entire site is ready for reuse.

Use Restrictions: Deed restrictions prohibit use of site groundwater.

SETTING:

•	The site is zoned for industrial land uses.

•	Surrounding areas are zoned for residential, commercial
and industrial land uses.

•	Surrounding land uses include public facilities to the west,
vacant land to the north, homes to the southwest, and
manufacturing facilities to the south and east.

•	An active rail line is located immediately northwest of the
site.

•	Surrounding population: 0.5 mile, 4,547 people
2.5 miles, 127,012 people | 4 miles, 333,498 people.

REMEDIAL STATUS:

•	Gold Coast Oil operated an oil and solvent reclamation
facility and bulk storage area on site from the early 1970s
to 1982.

EPA placed the site on the Superfund program's National
Priorities List :(NPL) in 1983 because of contaminated
groundwater and soil.

Site cleanup finished in 1990 after which a comprehensive
system of groundwater monitoring, recovery and disposal
was implemented.

EPA took the site off the NPL in 1996.

The site's remedy included off-site disposal of waste
sludge, on-site disposal of contaminated soil and
treatment of contaminated groundwater.
