PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Renewal Program will increase system reliability and
ensure safe drinking water by rehabilitating, replacing, and upgrading the Commission's
drinking water and wastewater treatment processes. The program includes 30 integrated water
and wastewater infrastructure projects that will address aging infrastructure, accelerating
system updates by approximately 15 years. The project also promotes renewable energy use by
rehabilitating the system's hydropower facility, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The projects
will ensure current and future regulatory compliance, including the removal of disinfection
byproducts and new water discharge limits, and ensure system reliability and redundancy.

PROJECT BENEFITS

•	Rehabilitates the hydropower facility to create renewable energy to power system
facilities.

•	Provides safe drinking water and increases system reliability by rehabilitating aging
infrastructure.

•	Improves water quality of the nearby waterways by reducing sewer overflows.

•	WIFIA lending accelerates system updates by 15 years and saves the City an estimated
$60 million.
