TASK

In May 2017, EPA established a task force to restore the Superfund program to its rightful
place at the center of the Agency's core mission to protect health and the environment.

Site Name: Hollingsworth Solderless Terminal Superfund Site
Size: 3.5 acres

Existing Site Infrastructure: Water, sewer, electricity and two former manufacturing buildings are
located on site.

Current Site Uses: Small businesses active on site include a uniform distribution center, a law
firm, a car dealership, a custom woodworking company and a moving company.
Use Restrictions: Groundwater use is restricted by state regulation.

SETTING:

•	The site and surrounding areas are .feoned for
commercial and light industrial land uses.

•	Areas near the site are in active commercial and
industrial use.

•	A rail spur and a private airport are located next to
the site.

•	High-density residential areas are located within a
mile of the site.

•	Several small businesses currently operate out of two
buildings on site.

•	As of December 2017, EPA had data on 11 on-site
businesses. These businesses employed 64 people
and generated an estimated $5,735,810 in annual
sales revenue.

•	Surrounding population: 0.5 mile, 1,745 people
2.5 miles, 81,199 people | 4 miles, 246,774 people.

REMEDIAL STATUS:

•	A solderless terminal manufacturing facility operated
on site from 1968 to 1982. Its operations resulted in
soil and groundwater contamination.

¦ EPA placed the site on the Superfund program's
National Priorities List (NPL) in 1983.

•	Groundwater contamination is being addressed by
in-place enhanced bi< "remediation,

•	All contaminated soils have been removed; no
land use restrictions are needed.
