Site Name: Alaric Area Groundwater Plume Superfund Site
Size: 1.7 acres

Existing Site Infrastructure: Water, sewer and electricity are available on site.

Current Site Uses: The site includes a 5,000-square-foot building. The current tenant is a lawn care

company.

Use Restrictions: Access to site investigation areas or remedy equipment locations and use of
groundwater for drinking is restricted.

SETTING:

•	The site and its surroundings are zoned for industrial and
residential land uses.

•	Site surroundings include light industrial, commercial and
residential areas.

•	Two neighborhoods and three schools are located within
1.5 miles of the site.

•	The Helena Chemical Company Superfund site is located
east of the site.

•	Surrounding population: 0.5 mile, 745 people
2.5 miles, 28,961 people | 4 miles, 94,222 people,

REMEDIAL STATUS:

•	Several industrial businesses have operated on the site
since the 1970s. Former operations resulted in soil and
groundwater contamination.

property owner for sale potential.

•	EPA placed the site on the Superfund program's National
Priorities List (NPL) in 2000.

•	Soil and groundwater investigation and cleanup are
Ongoing.

•	EPA is leading site investigation and cleanup activities in
cooperation with Florida Department of Environmental
Protection (FDEP).
