Cleanup activities included excavation and off-site removal of contaminated soil and sludge, capping of former sludge pits and the PVC resin storage area, and groundwater treatment and monitoring. Surface remediation is complete. The western groundwater plume achieved cleanup goals in 2016. Groundwater monitoring is ongoing. Formosa Plastics Corporation completed demolition of the former PVC plant in 2019. Under EPA oversight, a Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (R1/ FS) is being conducted for a contaminated groundwater plume moving eastward from the site. Once the RI/FS is complete, EPA will select a cleanup plan to address the eastbound plume. Disclaimer: EPA does not warrant that the property is suitable for any particular use.
